The Trade A Hans Larsson Novel Book 2 Chris Thrall Books
Author Chris Thrall’s second book in the Hans Laarsen Novel series The Trade jumps right in where The Drift left off to reveal jaw dropping outcomes while masterfully smoothing out some tangled loose ends. Then it goes right into a new adventure: elicit trade. Again Thrall brings together a lot of complicated historic facts in another epic and riveting tale that should also make Americans take note and want to investigate further instead of leaving them swept under a very dirty rug. Given the current political climate, it’s worth going back to recent history to analyze just how the hell we got here. As a fan of historical fiction, I just love how Thrall deftly weaves actual events into the lives of his fascinating characters. Hans Laarsen uses his genius Navy Seal skills in a chess game that introduces several new strong sexy allies and foes who keep you guessing and wanting to know what happens next. I can’t wait for The Stone!

The Trade A Hans Larsson Novel Book 2 Chris Thrall Books Reviews
The 2nd volume to the previous novel 'the Drift'. Unbearable loss brings Hans Larrsons days a living nightmare of confusion and disbelief. Only his instincts can keep him focused now on a question of balance, where sanity brings reality more sinister undercurrents of despair. His Navy SEAL background could be the means where fate shines light on a course of action worth living for. This volume brings a darker storyline where answers will create more questions relevant in our world.
After finishing The Drift, there was never any chance of me not reading The Trade. Firstly, because The Drift is a thrilling, well-written adventure but also because I had to find out what was happened next. Without giving too much away, at the end of book one, Hans and his daughter Jessica have found themselves in a bit of bother.
While The Drift begins by introducing the characters and giving a bit of back story and context, we pick up straight where we left off and fly straight into the action from page one in the Trade and once you’ve started, you will not put it down. I made the mistake of reading it late Sunday afternoon and didn’t go to bed until I’d finished it, long into the wee hours thus making today at work unbearable.
Despite the godawful position that Hans finds himself – physically, mentally and emotionally – our protagonist’s heroic nature and Commando background spur him on after he discovers that his daughter Jessica may be alive and in the hands of some serious wrong ‘uns. Supported by Penny, his no-nonsense, beer-drinking girlfriend, we follow Hans as he liaises with members of the secret agency he belongs to and begins conducting his own private investigation,
With Hans roaming round Cape Verde chasing leads, we read about the ordeal his fearless daughter is going through. The love between father and daughter is powerfully portrayed and you find yourself rooting for them to be reunited from the offset.
As in The Drift, new characters are introduced throughout the book and there is a large, colourful ensemble, ranging from British lager louts to high end politicians to stoner computer whizz kids. While some characters are clearly horrible bastards, others keep us guessing as to what their motives are and whose side they are on. There are twists and turns throughout in this roller coaster of a novel.
Chris Thrall is fantastic at pacing and the action scenes – of which there are many – are expertly written. I’d put the Hans Larsson series right up there with books by Lee Child, James Patterson and John Grisham. A thoroughly entertaining read and I can’t wait for the next installment.

The Trade is a fantastic novel. The second non-fiction work by Top selling author Chris Thrall. Author of the highly acclaimed non-fiction book Eating Smoke and first work of fiction The Drift. The Trade Is a page turner for sure! Hans a former Navy Seal returns to the site where his yacht "Future" capsized not knowing what to expect when he gets to the "Future", hoping for answers instead leaves Hans with more questions. The characters in the book are very colorful. Some charming. Some a bit rough around the edges. Never a dull moment. This is number two in an on-going series so there are more to come. I truly love this story also. I believe that you will too. It will leave you anticipating the next addition of the Hans Larsson series. I know I am. The drama, suspense, action and the emotional attachment that I felt for these characters have me hook, line and sinker. ;)
Enjoyed this book. Very informative about human trafficking with lots of plot twist and suspense. Kept me turning pages as fast as I could.
Great book. Hard to put down but you have to read both of them. Highly recommended. I can't wait for the next one.
You must read book 1, Drift. These two books have you turning the pages. So well written you feel you are really there. I hope you write many more if they are well written and as exciting as these books both are. Highly recommend.....
Plot-wise, I'd definitely give this five stars; it's an action-packed thriller that kept me needing to know what happens next. The characters were not perhaps as three-dimensional as they could be, which is why I only gave four stars, but for dedicated thriller readers, this probably won't matter. Definitely worth reading, and I'll be looking for more of this author's books.
