I bought this book after discovering the author on Instagram and finding that we share common interests in both fitness and writing. Honestly, I was surprised I liked it as much as I did. So many books about positive thinking are filled with pablum, but this one touches on some valid and important concepts, such as cognitive "schemas" developed as children that keep us trapped in negative thinking. This helps ground the reader in the author's approach and lends credibility to her thoughts and suggestions on how to break free. She also includes some simple assignments that can help integrate new thinking into readers' lives. Although the book is geared toward women, as a man I found it interesting and helpful. It's a short, easy, enjoyable read.

When I was first recommended this book by a colleague, I saw the cover and really didn't buy into the "gorgeous" descriptor. On my first read nearly a year ago, I was so negative, I wasn't getting any benefit from this book--all I could do was pick out errors in grammar, a few spelling mistakes, and low and behold, I barely made it to chapter 4. I was so far from being open minded and had no desire to read the book; as consequence I missed EVERYTHING Amy Chisholm was trying to tell her audience (including me)! Fast forward to now my mindset is entirely different, I've changed my associations, and now I'm reading half a book a day. I found this download in my kindle library and forgot I had it. Boy, I wish I paid attanetion the first time! I would have made so much more progress this last year if I shut up my own head and just listened to the positive messaging. Yes, there are some small syntax errors in this book; a small price to pay for a self-published author who has a more than impactful message to share which is worth way more than a dollar (see The Go Giver, Being Happy, and Psycho Cybernetics for reference). I will be recommending this book to my friends, as it should be a read for everyone.
After watching the documentary Hungry for Change, I was really inspired not only by what I put in my body but my thought life. I realized that what I put into my body and my thought life was equally important. I've been on the GAPS diet and Paleo for years now and that took my health to another level but I was missing something on a emotional level. I read the book "who switched off my Brain" by Caroline Leaf and it changed my life. Thoughts take up physical real estate is the brain and it is so important to guard them. I like "Think Gorgeous Thoughts" because it's a quick easy read but Amy also dives into some of the science and research about how important thought life is without making you feel like your reading a science journal. This book is a great reminder about positive affirmations and how they mold who you are! Get it while it's on sale! What a steal!
